The
Worcester County Highway Association is an organization comprised of the
60 municipalities within Worcester County. There are currently 240 members
in WCHA.
The WCHA membership is made up of highway officials, including Directors,
Highway Engineers, other various
municipal employees and contributing
vendors.
In addition to the fellowship and interaction among highway officials,
WCHA members have an opportunity to meet with their peers on a regular
basis. Members also benefit from updates about Federal and State public
works programs, networking, continuous exchange of ideas and education
and training programs.
House Bill No. 3180
On January 7, 2008 the Massachusetts House Committee on State
Administration and Regulatory Oversight favorably reported out of its
committee H.3180 to the House Committee on Ways and Means. The bill is
entitled:
An Act Facilitating the Formation of Statewide Mutual Aid Agreements for
Public Works Agencies
The MMA has a link to that legistlation - please navigate to Section 44

This is the best chance we have to get mutual aid legislation passed in
Massachusetts at this time. If our Massachusetts membership supports the
concept of mutual aid and this bill in particular, I would strongly
suggest they send a letter to the chair of the House Committee on Ways
and Means, Representative Robert A. DeLeo. On the MMA website
(click here ) there is a letter to the House Ways and Means Committee regarding the municipal relief bill for our members convenience to review.
Thanks for your support.
